The days and weeks following wildfires and floods are critical in documenting damages, assessing the environmental and human impacts, and estimating the costs of short- and long-term remedial actions. Forsgren Associates has assisted legal counsel in obtaining fair settlements and cost-effective response options following a wildfire. Our hydrologic modeling alerted elected officials to the possibility that a single-year recurrence storm could cause 100-year flood damage in a Utah landscape denuded by a catastrophic fire. In another instance our studies resulted in quick remedial actions when a water diversion structure was damaged by a flash flood in Colorado.
